Getting Decent Medical Care through Workers’ Compensation

When you are injured on the job, your employer is required to pay for your medical care, including transportation costs, pharmacy costs and rehabilitation costs. With a few exceptions, Georgia employers are required by law to post a list (or “panel”) of six doctors from which you may choose a treating physician. As you may have already discovered, insurance companies often list on these panels doctors who tend to make medical decisions insurance companies like.

Panel doctors often provide the bare minimum treatment and then release the injured employee to full duty work before she or he is physically ready. One of the first things Lee Biola does in a case is to see if there is a way to force the insurance company to pay for you to go to a better doctor.
